In this context, the use of stainless steel is particularly interesting. The material of the stainless steel handrail must be particularly hard, and the material attached to the wall must be solid; it is often said that an average person should be able to sit on the balustrade without deforming it or without being able to open it from the wall. Its location in relation to the step is also regulated; the height between the railing and the horizontal part of the step should be 80 to 100 cm. The extension of the handrail in the lower and upper parts of the staircase is also a requirement; it must be at least equal to the width of a step.
Installation of a stainless steel staircase handrail
The custom-made handrail is often sold in kit form and is intended for those who have a little bit of installation to do themselves. The kit includes brackets that attach to the wall and stainless steel pipes that will be attached to the brackets. The connections between the pipes are made either by fixed connections or by variable angles, to allow a better adaptation to the staircase. Before installation, it is necessary to determine on the wall the location of the ramp; this can be done by placing points on the wall 90 cm above the steps. From these points, simply draw a line, which in turn will be parallel to the staircase and will represent the railing. Ask someone to help you locate the position of the hooks on this line using the crosshairs. All you have to do is drill the wall to attach the brackets. Depending on the manufacturer, the brackets must be attached to the pipe either before or after they are attached to the wall.
